Yesterday was nearly as bad as Monday. Left at home with the baby for the first time in weeks while trying to balance the chemistry in my brain was frustrating to say the least. Buddha was having one of those Nothing-Will-Make-Me-Happy days. By the time Husband got home from work, I was ready to clock off.
I nearly decided not to go to knit night but I wanted to escape the baby so badly… Needless to say, I wasn’t sorry I went. I really cannot overstate how wonderful these gals are and how positively just meeting them has impacted my life. They have brought so much into my life - knowledge, joy, friendship and a real sense of sisterhood. They are the kindest and most generous group of ladies I’ve known in a very long time. One of the ladies that has trouble getting out on Tuesdays due to work called Sonnie’s phone to talk to me about my meds and gave me some resources to look into. How farkin’ sweet is that!?
Husband was able to eke out a little bit of money so that I could order a coffee and get Joy a shake. He made me the prettiest mocha latte I’ve ever had the pleasure of drinking. Can you see the flower (near the top)?
Joy has looked forward to Tuesdays since she met Sonnie’s daughter, O. She has even asked us to move across the bridge so that she and O can be neighbors and go to the same school! Just look at them together!
Sonnie and Nellis had brought gifts for me. It was completely unexpected, but a wonderful surprise (further affirming my already-high opinion of them).
At my surprise party on Sunday, Sonnie’s husband asked “Where is our ice cream scoop?” to which my husband replied “Prolly with our ice cream scoop!” You see, our ice cream scoop has been missing for some time now. I only eat pints of Dr. Dove and do not require use of an ice cream scoop. Therefore, it was Husband who lost the ice cream scoop and no one else.
Point is, Sonnie was paying attention. I laughed so hard when I saw this! It really is perfect.![]()
She also bought me a second skein of this yummiest baby alpaca yarn, for which I have the perfect project in mind. Husband bought me the first skein, meaning that I now have enough for the project!
The project is this all-in-one scarf and hood, complete with “pockets” at either end of the scarf for stuffing cold hands into. I have been totally infatuated with a completely different shade of colors, however, these colors are beautiful, too and will better match my winter coat.
Nellis gave this awesome reversible handmade bag. It just so happened that she made it in green - she had no idea it’s my favorite color. It’s the perfect size for my sock yarn project.![]()
See this name brand label? It makes this bag worth $300-$500, easy!
(Well, maybe not, but it’s the kind of personal touch that makes me swoon and makes it valuable to me.) I really love this bag!
Inside the bag, I found a delicious ball of magik striping sock yarn!
Nellis has been working on this beautiful skirt as part of a Ravelry Knit-a-long (KAL) and she finished it up last night. She used Hempathy yarn. I can’t believe how fast she whipped this thing out! It looks really great.
My mom-in-law (MIL) sent me a check a few weeks ago for yarn. At the time, we really needed the flow for other things, but Husband replaced the money so I could get a few things. I got this skein of alpaca sock yarn.
MIL, I love the bag. It’s my knitting bag now! I should take a picture…
I also got 5 skeins of yarn for the aforementioned scarf-hood project, but since I have enough baby alpaca, I’m going to use that and will find another project for this yarn. It’s 75% acrylic 25% wool. Maybe a baby afghan?
P bought some yarn, as well. She wants me to knit her a pair of socks. She selected this beautiful chunky yellow-orange-green wool yarn - perfect for indoor winter socks to to guard against cold hardwood floors. Unfortunately, she will hafta hand-wash them, lest they felt. Then again, she has an affinity for felted hats - she may like felted socks! (Can you felt socks? Wonder what that would be like…)
And she gave me some money to buy myself some yarn, too. I got this Happy Feet yarn. Yes, I love funky socks!
I really should be set on yarn for a while. Not that I’d turn any down, mind you. Or that I’d restrain myself if we hit the lottery tonight. Oh no, I’d buy my own yarn store! Yarn is so scrum-diddly-umptious!
The best gift, however, is the continued patience and techniques that all of the girls bestow on me. It really tickles my funny bone when they tell others that I’m “just starting out” knitting. It’s very flattering! Considering how highly I think of them and the amazing work they produce, it’s a really big complement.
I wouldn’t have been able to get this far without them.
I love you, Knit-Night-Girls. You are treasures!
