The Plot Thickens
Posted by tata on Thursday Jul 17, 2008 Under TrialsSo Husband climbed into bed with him while T and I ran to Wal*Mart to pick up WIC and some teething tablets and ibuprofen for the boy. When we got home, Husband was sitting up in bed, rocking the sleeping babe. He finally emerged from the bedroom to work on a bit of school before hitting the sack early, what with day shift starting today and all.
I plurked way too late. And caught up on my subscriptions in google reader. I finished the egg to my crochet breakfast project while watching an episode of The First 48. Before wrapping up and going to bed, I made Husband’s lunch and set the coffee pot to brew just before his alarm would go off. It was easily 2:30am before I fell asleep.
This morning, I expected Buddha to wake me early, since we (read: Husband) managed to get him to sleep by 10:30-ish pm, but it was just after 10am when he woke me. I was (and am!) still pretty tired, but we are trying to retrain ourselves for a day-time schedule, so I got us up.
I came into the hall, making my way to the bathroom and saw Husband sitting at his computer. I stopped in my tracks and asked - no doubt with a look of surprise on my face - “What are you doing here?” He was fired.
Wow.
Wow.
That was an unexpected turn of events.
Wow.
The plot thickens.
Wow.
So then. When he filled out his application for his job, he answered a question about worker’s comp falsely - but unintentionally. Memory lapse. Innocent mistake. But because he was injured at this job, they decided to investigate his job history and found that he had a claim from a previous job. On his app, he said he did not have a claim. There’s a hearing of some sort on Tuesday about it that he is attending with the Union Rep but we aren’t certain (although we are hopeful) that it’s going to make much difference.
I realized that it was about this time last year that he was fired from his last job for wearing a hat to work. I wonder if it’s the same cursed date, so I can aim my frustration at the date and from here on out refer to it as Doom Day.
It hasn’t sunk in yet. I’m taken aback some, but mostly still feel pretty positive about things. Everything happens for a reason. Keeps things interesting if nothing else. Unless something really fucking great happens, our house dream is shot for at least another 18 months. That really sucks, but it could definitely be worse.
I expended a lot of my energy today cleaning. Husband helped. It helped us feel a bit better, but now we are both extra tired from screwy schedules. We’ve discussed some of our options and he’s applied to some jobs online, too. I’m going to continue working on my crochet breakfast and maybe my scarf some, watch The Bank Job and get to bed at a decent hour tonight. P and I postponed our usual Thursday outing for another time, as she is having a helluva week too. Hopefully I’ll have a good update soon. In the meantime, if you are the praying type, we’d appreciate an extension our way.

Man, that sucks!! I know what it’s like to get fired for stupid reasons–I was fired from my first job after college because I admitted to a friend that I liked the movie The Patriot. I suppose it’s about time I blogged about that again . . .
Anyway, I’ll be lifting up my feeble prayers for you guys.
Oh, I dreamed about you all last night! You were taking pictures of everything and your husband was spinning Buddha in the air, amid much laughing and giggling. It was nice.
And then I tried to get Jim from The Office to elope with me. I guess that’s how dreams go!
