The weather has been unseasonably mild. Yesterday, we took the boy to the park to enjoy the breeze and to expend some of his seemingly endless supply of energy. He went down the slide and didn’t cry!

The slide!
I started and completed an amigurumi elephant. The pattern states that it takes about an hour to make. Well, I call bullshit. I spent around 5-6 hours working on it! But it turned out pretty cute anyway. I didn’t sew his eyes on when I should have (step 2), so he was eyeless until today. I bought some googly eyes and added them a bit ago.

I’m now working on
this cute little bird and will prolly make a few. I am really enjoying amigurumi. I still need to finish
crochet breakfast, too and keep working on my knitted
Improv Scarf.
We went to apply for benefits today. I think Husband and I were starting to feel the pressure of no income, as our mood was quiet and reflective as we waited over an hour to be seen. After spending more time there than I cared to, we stopped at Wal*Mart to get WIC and those googly eyes. We came home and I immediately started working on dinner (see previous post) because we were so hungry. Husband checked the messages and found he had received a job offer. He called the gentleman back and it turns out to be a temp-to-hire position at GeekSquad. He goes in to the temp agency on Monday at 9:30am for their paperwork and whatnot and starts work on Wednesday (assuming all goes well).
Husband is absolutely thrilled. This is work he really wants to do for a very similar pay as his last job (just a bit less). When we were at the local Stitch ‘n Bitch on Tuesday, one of the ladies there told us about one of her family members that works at GeekSquad and how she has been promoted several times in her first year there. So this is very exciting news for us, even if we will lose the benefits of Husband’s last job, as he will be much happier there and also working first shift (which will make *me* much happier). We appreciate all the thoughts and prayers sent our way.

At long last, the blankets I’ve been working on are completed! So let’s cut right to the pictures, shall we?!
The sock monkey head.

The face was added.

Then sewn to a square.

Buddha loves it!

The completed blanket.
Both of them!

The pattern came from this book.

I inspired the girls to pick up their own hooks.
It took much longer than I anticipated, but it was well worth it. I started on May 25 and finished the second blanket today. The first blanket was completed two days ago. I would’ve completed it sooner if I had worked on it more often. It’s just gotten so hard to crochet while Buddha is awake. He climbs on me and tries to steal my yarn, hook or pattern. So, I’ve been crocheting more at night and/or nap-time and well, I don’t always want to crochet at those times. I’m really pleased with how great they look. The pictures really don’t do them any justice. Cat was right when she said I’d love the Granny Square! I *do* and really want to find some really terrific pattern to make myself one.
Some “Just Because” photos:
A snapshot I took of Joy after snapping the photos of the blankets.

I took this a few days ago. It’s my new favorite of Buddha.

They were snuggled up on the couch watching TV - awwww!
