And so this is the situation we find: a succession of Galactic Presidents who so much enjoy the fun and palaver of being in power that they very rarely notice that they’re not.

Who can possibly rule if no one who wants to do it can be allowed to?”

If you recall, some time ago I started The Restaurant at the End of the Universe by Douglas Adams. I read this chapter a few days ago (finally!) and it summarized my feelings on the matter of the upcoming election better than anything else I have read, seen or heard in quite some time. I felt compelled to share.
