Happy Thanksgiving!

Posted by tata on Wednesday Nov 26, 2008 Under Events

What’s not to love about savory food, family and football?! Thanksgiving is quite possibly my favorite day of the year (or is it SuperBowl Sunday?! I love that one, too!) and this year is no exception - I have much to be thankful for. Lately, it’s been difficult to embrace my blessings because financial worries have taken precedence: money has been very, very tight. My skin is going bonkers over it, too. I haven’t been this broken out since, erm, ever!

Nonetheless, I am blessed. My family is healthy and happy. My mom and brother are getting along really well and will not only be sitting at the same table for the Holiday Meal of the Year, but will also be making eye contact and conversation! My ex is a thousand miles away. Sweet, sweet blessings! My marriage is great, my son willingly ate broccoli today, my daughter has joined the Step Team and is very excited about it. Husband’s business is slowly taking off. While my job sucks in at least a dozen different ways, I know there are many places going out of business and a lot of people that have no job. My mom has helped us out a lot with work and money: I worked for her yesterday and this morning and made a bit extra to help us make the rent. I have been reconnecting with old friends and made a lot of new friends while learning a new skill (knitting, for which I am also very grateful!). Plus, Husband told me that Anne from Grinny Possum called this afternoon and wants me to work on Black Friday. It’s small and cheesy, but totally thrills me! Buddha has a vocabulary of over 50 words/sentences now. We’ve been keeping track on the family whiteboard. Seems we add one word every day!

On top of all those wonderful blessings, I have you beautiful readers devotedly gracing my blog. I hope you all have a lovely Turkey-and-Football Day of Thanks! Namaste.

Good on you for reminding us what’s really important. I am thankful for my new knitting buds like you! Somehow sharing our creativity makes everything better.

Happy Thanksgiving! It wouldn’t really be the holiday it is without the underlying tones of family dysfunction, now would it? :) It sounds like yours is doing well this year, though, so I’m glad to hear it. I will be stuck with the screaming kids and relatives which are my future in-laws, taking some small consolation in the knowledge that I am not related to these people by blood.

I need to sit down and make a list of the things I am thankful for. Right now it is hard to see the good things in my life.
    Thanks for reminding me.

    Have a great Thanksgiving!
